Brugnano is commissioned by the COBAT consortium to
collect
used batteries in Palermo
and throughout Sicily. This type of waste, if not collected properly, can cause
serious damage to the environment, with consequences for human health: they
are, in fact, highly polluting objects, due to the presence of heavy metals,
including lead. If not treated properly, spent batteries are a real poison,
especially for water.
The Italian legislation regulates the disposal of used
batteries, defining the storage and treatment methods, which must be carried
out under safe conditions to minimize the risk of harmful substances
propagation. The separate collection of these materials is essential to
eliminate their presence in landfills and incinerators, with devastating
consequences for the environment. Brugnano collects used batteries in full
compliance with current regulations, using the safest equipment in this field.
COBAT (National Consortium for Lead Exhausted
Batteries and Lead Waste) ensures that the various phases of collection,
storage and recovery are carried out in the best possible way. Established in
1988, the Consortium plays a priority role within the Italian green economy,
protecting the environment and the citizens’ health; in particular, COBAT is a
very important reference point for the
batteries recycling in Italy, where greater attention to this type of
recovery coincided with the establishment of the institution.
Brugnano undertakes to comply with the regulations in
force regarding disposal and recovery, working alongside public bodies, private
companies and individual citizens who need to dispose of certain types of
special waste, hazardous or not. To ensure that everything is carried out with
the utmost safety, the company has the appropriate certifications (OHSAS
18001/07, ISO 9001/15 and ISO 14001/15), the authorization to store according
to Ordinance number 573 of 26/11/12 and the authorization for the transport of
waste number PA 00247 and subsequent amendments and integrations.
